The last adventure upon this earth .......

As my adventures are always happy and smily, this trek to Scotland wasnt going to be as i said goodbye to the man who i looked upto for courage and knowledge around the earth we live upon.

The day you left this earth was your last adventure Grandad, you taught me alot whilst being around about how to be myself and how to discover the world and i will carry on doing you proud till the end.

My travels took me up to Kirkpatrick Durham where i would say a final goodbye to you and forever you will be missed

The views were exstatic even at these sad times you left us with the memories of an amazing place. the stories and adventures you spoke about and how i would sit there for hours on end listening to them.

Every adventure and travels i take on miles and miles away from home will be in your memory and wherever i go i know your there to follow the footsteps i take along my journey through nature and happieness.

The smiles i will send will be from you watching me discover new things and exploring the different cultures and backgrounds around this world holds upon us.

The fireplace we all sat round talking about the mischief you got up to made us all smile and the adventures and traveling you took throughout your years is evermore on where I got it from.

Until we meet again Grandpapa, my adventures will follow me as they followed you ....................

PYB - WEEK 3 - MOUNTAINEERING

Here we go again ....... another adventure that takes me into the hills and valleys of the Welsh Mountains.

Somewhat 3hrs later on a warm coach i arrived at the Plas Y Brenin site for another week of adventurous activities.

Meet and greet were first as there was new faces around the building and old faces that are just part of the furniture.

As the morning blew by, the afternoon took me and the group on a navigation walk through the forest of Bryn Engan with Alex as our instructor this time with the assistants of Adam who was new to all of us and Dan who was my new 1:1, a scary change for me.

The second day into the mountaineering and off to Tryfan Bach and along the rocky terrain and crossing through the far south peak and into the gullys around the of Tryfan itself taking the paths of the Heather Terrain.

Weather was windy and gusty with a down pour of drizzly rain as the decent happened and within an hour and a half, flat ground had hit my feet.

Third day in an the muscles were aching and brusies were appearing on my body but more mountaineering was to come as the week comenced.

Morning came round and an emergency decent with ropes was the learning curve for me as I learnt about the over hand knot and trying to tie it around rocks and trees.

An early lunch and then into Pen Y Pass I went to put the skills to a new level using them on the side with real rocks and with 20mph winds it was a difficult decent but I battled through it with the team with the support of Dan and the other two instructors and the group.

Onto the route trek we went as we planned for a decent on the Thursday .......

Into the night and I settled into the lecture talk from instructor Alex about his first ascent to the himalayers and with loads of detail and information it was a brilliant talk learning about the history behind the different mountains.

Mornings are always nice to see when you have a view like this for a week ........

Thursday had came by and it was the final full day of Mountaineering, with windy gusts up to around 25mph and higher, today was gonna be a push.

Taking the steps into and around Capel Curig was "Narley" the steep hills and the stumble rocks that were placed underneath my feet.

Walking with the support from Dan was fantastic as I learnt some pretty cool stuff around how maps work and taking the bearings on a compass.

Learning about different ways of supporting people coming down hills or mountains as I learnt about the Compentence Rope Work and with the support of Dan I helped with joining in on how to support a nervous person coming down off the Valley

As the week drys in and Friday is a day away, the nature of Mountaineering comes to an end ...............

Looking back at the week I commenced into Mountaineering and i explore the different Welsh Mountains l discover who I am and learn more about myself and learn more on how happy I can be whilst being in the outdoors.

Keep tuned as I wait another month until I'm back at Plas Y Brenin and take on the challenge of canoeing ...
